daphne’s diary entry #9
Written by Daphne Bryant
I’m so happy that I started this online diary. It means that every now and then I get to slow down and reflect on what’s been going on in my life (and what’s been going on with the zine). In a way, it’s also a way for me to connect with you guys and talk to you about shit, albeit indirectly.
Here’s what’s happening in my dream world.
1. Our podcast episode with LOEN is finally out! If you’re a podcast kind of person, I think you’ll really enjoy our most recent episode with musician LOEN! Check it out here >>>
And, let us know what you’d like to hear next on DWG Diaries! Interviews, more confessions + advice, sit-down chats? The sky’s the limit!
2. There are five days left before our first event of the year, CTRL + ALT + MEET! Tickets for this community-centric networking and matchmaking event is live! If you’re free on January 24th, we’d love to see you guys! So far we’ve sold 66 tickets, and we’d love to sell more! Share with your friends and make sure you RSVP :)
3. Bitter Bitch Merch is out! You can finally shop our brand new merch collection on our website under the SHOP label. There are a bunch of different options, so please feel free to browse and buy something that speaks to you! 50% of your purchase will be given to the designer as our form of payment, while the other 50% will go towards the zine and keeping it afloat <3 Your support is so, so appreciated, and if you buy merch please tag us in pictures and videos of you in it!
4. We finished Issue 02 and copies are expected to arrive on January 30th! I genuinely cannot believe we’ve finished the BITTER issue. My layout designers absolutely killed it under so much deadline pressure, and I hope you love the final product just as much as I do. There are a few ways you can acquire a print copy: for example, our remote readers who are not based in Massachusetts or California can get a print copy by pre-ordering one on our website come January 23rd.Limited copies available.
Digital copies will also be available on February 8th, which is the national release day of DG Zine’s second issue, as well as the day of our bicoastal launch parties.
5. Speaking of buying copies, launch parties are happening! As you probably already know by now, we’re doing dual launch parties for Issue 02 (one in Boston and one in LA, on the same day so that we can all celebrate together)!
Boston tickets are sold out #yay! For our LA launch only 100 out of the 250 tickets available have been reserved, so there is still plenty left and I cannot encourage attending enough! There will be live performances, tarot readings, free food and drinks, a temporary tattoist, mic’d up interviews, and most importantly: PRINT ZINES! FOR PURCHASE! If you’re dying to get a copy of the BITTER issue, you’ve got to come out (and as early as you can, because we will sell out!)
See you there ;)
6. I did an awesome interview with the Berkeley Beacon, and I have an even MORE insane feature coming out with the MF BOSTON GLOBE! I can’t keep it a secret anymore! A correspondent from The Boston Globe reached out to me and I will be featured in their renowned publication. It’s just insane! For those of you who are not aware, The Boston Globe is the equivalent of the LA Times or NY Times. This is a huge, huge interview for me and Dreamworldgirl Zine, and I can’t wait for it to drop!
