Zine

Dreamworldgirl Zine, a Boston and LA-based multimedia zine for all things girlhood, was dreamed up by writer and creative director Daphne Bryant. In April of this year DG Zine was launched with a foundation in both the literary and visual arts. Honoring the nostalgic Y2K era and publishing work from all over the world, DG Zine seeks to create a whimsical, creative space for women and other marginalized gender identities.

We publish biannual print and digital issues, one in the summer and one in the winter. We also run Dreamworldgirl Blog, an online platform that accepts mostly non-fiction work, short films and photography all year round.

Hi! My name is Daphne and I founded Dreamworldgirl Zine. I’m originally from a metro-suburban town called Fayetteville, Georgia, where I developed a love for writing that has stayed with me all these years.

As far as my interdisciplinary background, over the past few years I’ve dipped my toes in pretty much everything you can think of: prose, modeling, publishing, music, lifestyle, creative direction, photography, and more. If it weren’t for the connections I’ve made and experiences I’ve gained through these pursuits, I don’t think Dreamworldgirl would have ever been actualized. You see, I’ve always fantasized about starting my own publishing company or press, but didn’t think I had a particularly unique angle. When I started talking more with my family, friends and mentors about how my creative work no longer revolved solely around fiction, it sort of just clicked. I discovered that I could merge the literary and visual arts. I could model, and I could do creative direction, and I could do publishing, and I could also write, which was my first love and always will be. I can do those things, and so I did it (with the help of my talented staff).

Whether you’re new here or a longtime fan, I genuinely thank you so much for believing in this project and my team. We are so grateful and excited about the future, and we promise to keep reaching for the stars, for you, for your art, and for the little girl that lives inside me.
