GIRLHOOD

DIRECTED AND WRITTEN BY HONOR MINORS

I see the concept of community as the core of my girlhood experience; I was born and raised on the island of Bermuda, and have had the privilege to grow up with such strong and opinionated women as my role models throughout my teenage years. Learning from these women taught me to speak honestly, create freely and love unconditionally. Growing up, as we all do, is one of the scariest feelings (at least in my opinion). Things we used to find intriguing become thoughts of the past, and we continue to evolve and mature. These fads were temporary but the feeling of community has always stayed the same for me, and Bermuda has a funny way of providing it - even when you may be alone. Whether this be our ‘Aunties’ chatting at the dock, or the simple ‘afternoon’ from the school-girls walking to the bus stop - the product(s) of girlhood is in our lives at every turn we make.

This video is also a love letter to the girls who have made my teenage years everything I could have wanted. Thank you for being who you are, and allowing me to be a part of your journeys as well.
