Daphne’s diary entry #2

Written by Daphne Bryant

Okay so I’m back! Hello diary, hello dreamworld girls, hello people of the Internet. Today we’re ushering in a brand new month, so I’m updating you on some fun things we have coming up this August. Consider yourself an insider of sorts.

  1. We’re publicly releasing our launch party flyer this weekend. That’s right! My amazing friend and a staff layout designer, Becca, has created a stunning flyer and she’s all ready to go. In fact, if you want an early access look, you can head to our Events page and check out everything we have planned.

  2. We’re interviewing more musicians! Who’s on the lineup this month? I’m so glad you asked. Lookout for Sarah Kinsley, Kort Blu and worm shot features!

I love so much that music is a big part of Dreamworldgirl Zine’s multimedia mission. If it weren’t for the time I spent as online director of music magazine Five Cent Sound, or the connections this zine has been able to form with Universal Music Group, I don’t think our grasp on the music industry and our commitment to showcasing artists and their work would be nearly as strong. #grateful

  3. We’re doing production design for @sonderbyem. Emma is one of my good friends and a trusted collaborator. She’s worked on the staff for Dreamworldgirl Zine and has also done videography and photography for us (and don’t tell anyone I said this, but I’m 95% sure she’ll also be the co-EIC for the Issue 02 season, presiding over much of the Boston events and shoots while I’m away. For this reason (and also because she’s really talented and fun to work with), the zine is collabing with her on one of her shoots to do some awesome production design.Look out for an IG takeover coming later this month!

  4. We’re releasing our print (and digital) issue. Yesterday all 60 copies of our first issue, DIY, arrived and we’re still freaking out about it. The zine is beautiful, and we can’t wait for everyone to see them. Print issues will only be available at the launch party, and we’re estimating that there’ll be around 30 copies that the general public can purchase (with the rest being reserved for staff members and paid contributors). In the instance that the print issue does not sell out at launch, we’ll do some free giveaways and we’ll put some online that can be ordered through the shop.Stay updated by following us on socials (primarily Instagram) so that you know what’s available and when.

  5. We’re having our DIY Launch Party & Swap. Yes! The culmination of all our hard work: the launch party & swap. Happening August 17th from 2-6PM, this is a stacked event and a great opportunity to meet people in the area and support other artists. We’ll obviously have zines that you can purchase, but we’ll also have stickers and merch. Furthermore, there’ll be live performances by local acts, free Yerba mate, a chance to get temporary tattoos and a HUGE clothing swap. Anyone will be able to bring clothes that they want to swap and then lay them out on picnic blankets; attendees can thrift sustainably from each other’s collections and leave with piles of new clothes, if they wanted to. It’ll be happening in the Boston Public Garden, and once again, that flyer will be available everywhere this Saturday.

  6. We’re doing a brand photoshoot with Philomena Vintage. Our first collaborative brand photoshoot is happening THIS month! We’ll be working with a brand new clothing shop called Philomena Vintage, based right here in Boston. Can’t say too much about it yet, but know that we’re plotting and will be casting models for it later this month.

  7. We’re expanding out to LA! This is the big one, which is why I saved it for last. On August 24th I will be moving to Hollywood for my last semester of school and bringing Dreamworldgirl Zine with me (dramatic but true). I’m so excited to collaborate with artists, photographers, models and more out in California. As always, if you’re interested in working together please DM my personal Instgram (@daphnerbryant), or send a professional inquiry to the zine’s email: dreamworldgirlzine@gmail.com.

Love you all down BAD. Thanks always for the love and support x
