An Indie Music Holiday Playlist

curated by elizabeth weiss

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s time to get festive. And what better way to amplify those cozy vibes than with some music? If you’re like me, you’re probably bored of the same five songs that play on loop. While there is nothing wrong with these classics, it’s about time for a change. I’ve prepared a curated playlist of indie holiday songs sure to get you in the mood.

  • “ This December - holiday version” Rick Montgomery

It’s December so obvi I had to include this one.

  • “ Christmas Drag” I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME

Interestingly enough, this song was originally released by Dallon Weekes' former project The Brobecks. IDKHow reworked the artist’s original track and re-released it.

  • “ Don’t Shoot Me Santa” The Killers, Ryan Pardey

If you weren’t already aware, The Killers have great songs that aren’t“ Mr. Brightside.”

  • “ Christmas Wrapping” The Front Bottoms

A cover of the beloved song by The Waitresses, The Front Bottoms takes on a unique approach. Come for the signature midwest emo vibe and stay for the festivity.

  • “ Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” Phoebe Bridgers

Of course I had to include one of Phoebe Bridgers’ Christmas songs!

  • “Snow Song” Adrianne Lenker

The name Adrianne Lenker has been buzzing lately, so naturally she earned a place on this playlist.

  • “ Christmas Kids” Roar

A bit more on the alternative side,“ Christmas Kids” creatively spins this traditional Christmas song.

  • “ Angel in the Snow” Elliot Smith

I’m so here for a throwback.

  • “ Groovy Xmas” The Linda Lindas

Riot Grrl band The Linda Lindas have changed the music game with“ Groovy Xmas”!
